Important Customer Information: Water Rates To Be Increased Effective October 2011

On September 13, 2010, the City of Bushnell heard the results of a Water Rate Study that was conducted by Florida Rural Water Association. The Water Rate Study was conducted to analyze the cost of the City to provide potable water to the citizens and businesses of Bushnell in relationship to the revenue that was derived by the water charges to the ultimate customer.

It was determined that a Water Rate Increase was necessary to recover costs associated with providing water to the community. Also, the City was required to implement what is known as a "conservation rate" for residential customers. Conservation rates are typically charged by setting a step increase - the more you use, the more you pay; this rate structure is meant to encourage customers to conserve water and minimize water waste.

For full details as to how these rate changes will affect you and your household, please see the attached information sheet.
