The City of Bushnell was the recipient of Florida's Outstanding Rural Community Award in 1992.

The City of Bushnell was voted one of the Best Places to Work in Lake and Sumter Counties in 2004, 2005 and 2007.

The City of Bushnell has been a member of the Tree City USA® program for over 15 years. This program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, and provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities that more than 135 million Americans call home.
