The City of Bushnell held the 7th annual "Grant a Christmas Wish" program this year. The Children's Home Society, who works with the Florida Department of Children and Families, provided the names of 50 children in need this Christmas season. This organization provides a safe harbor for children and helps to reverse crisis situations within family units. Children's Home Society provides treatment for developmentally disabled children, foster care, adoption, group homes, child abuse prevention, emergency shelters, and case management.

The Grant a Christmas Wish program was a huge success! The City was overwhelmed with the generosity of this community and the staff here at the City; there were so many wonderful toys and childrens' clothing brought in for the children. The citizens of the community came with bags of toys and open hearts, and this program resulted in providing Christmas gifts to over 70 children, not just the original 50 names on the tree.

The City of Bushnell would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who helped support the 2011 Grant a Christmas Wish program, and we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!

The City Council of the City of Bushnell, Florida, has determined that in order to promote and serve the best interest of the citizens, it is appropriate and proper to amend certain provisions of Chapter 17 of the Code of Ordinances governing Parks and Recreational uses. The parks and other recreational facilities in the City are supported through property taxes received from the citizens of Bushnell. Many users of these facilities live outside the City of Bushnell, but reap the benefits of the use of the Parks.

Due to the increased costs to maintain the parks, ball fields, and concession stands, the City needs to recoup some of those costs from the users by charging a use fee. These fees will help the City to maintain the concession stand equipment, and ball fields and park lighting.

The City of Bushnell Community Center, located at 407 E. Belt Avenue, consists of a 4,000 square foot building with open interior architecture housing a full kitchen, stage and restroom facilities. This facility will accommodate parking for approximately 97 vehicles and has an interior capacity of 125 occupants. The grounds consist of two tee-ball fields, a small playground and picnic pavilion area, a shuffle board court, and a lit basketball court.

The Community Center is available for rental to the general public by reservation only. Click on the links below to download and review both the Rental Requirements/Guidelines and the Community Center Rental Application.
