CITY OF BUSHNELL - GRANT A CHRISTMAS
WISH PROGRAM
|
In 2004, the City of Bushnell
sponsored a pilot program to provide Christmas gifts to
underprivileged children. The Children's
Home Society of Florida provided the children's names.
This agency provides many services, including foster care,
adoption, and working to reverse crisis situations within
family units. They work with the State
of Florida Department of Children and Family. Thanks
to the generosity of our community, over 70 children received
wonderful gifts. The City staff and the Children's Home
Society were overwhelmed at the spirit of giving expressed
by this community so we decided to continue the program
on an annual basis.
In 2005, the program expanded to include 20 senior citizens
who's names were provided by the
Salvation Army and once again, the community's generosity
was overwhelming.
